Bring the family and a picnic to relax by the lake and be entertained by fantastic talent including the lovely Sara DeBono and local superstar Morgan Evans.This year the Carols will commence at 6.00pm following a festive day of family-friendly activities in the park from midday. This year’s event will feature the very popular camel rides, face painting, jumping castles and other kid’s activities. The Carols and Nativity Play include real camels, donkeys and sheep. Festivities begin on Thursday 17 December from 5.30pm with live performances from local musicians, as well as lots of activities and great food for all the family. The highlight of the evening, the Carols and Nativity Play, will begin at 7.30pm. So, bring your family, friends and a picnic rug and celebrate Christmas with your community. Drawing more than 15,000 people to the event last year, this year’s evening will be packed full of performances by fantastic local artists, including crowd favourites Adam Scicluna and Hunter Singers, carnival rides, Newcastle Permanent’s free photo booth and of course Santa! Event starts at 5.30pm and Carols will commence around 7.00pm. Get in early to secure a great spot and take advantage of free parking in King Street Car Park with free shuttle service from 5.30pm to 10.00pm. Entry is free. The usual fantastic vibe, enhanced by you - as you bring your rug and picnic tea - to create an enjoyable community atmosphere. Of course the fairy floss will be free (donations to our Nepal Community Development projects), the glowstix will be illuminating with coffee, cold drinks and dutch pancakes on sale. Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight® has been a fabulous Christmas tradition for 77 years, bringing Australia classic Christmas carols and an evening of entertainment with something for the whole family and 2015 will be no exception! In addition to being a wonderful show, all of the funds raised by Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight go directly to provide services to children who are blind or have low vision and their families.
